NDYC Condemns Protests to Dissolve EFCC

The Niger Delta Youth Congress (NDYC) has expressed strong opposition to the recent call for a mass protest aimed at dismantling the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The NDYC attributes this call to individuals with ulterior motives, supported by fraudsters and criminal elements, who seek to destabilize the country and undermine its fight against corruption.

The NDYC underscores the importance of the EFCC in Nigeria’s battle against economic and financial crimes. The commission’s role in investigating and prosecuting corruption is vital to the nation’s integrity and progress. Given the numerous challenges facing Nigeria, the NDYC insists on the need to support and strengthen, rather than abolish, such critical institutions.

To enhance the EFCC’s effectiveness, the NDYC urges the government to provide greater autonomy, adequate funding, and the necessary legislative support to the agency. These measures are seen as crucial for fortifying Nigeria’s institutions and safeguarding the economic and financial systems from corruption.

The NDYC categorically condemns any protest against the EFCC and denounces the idea of its dissolution. Such actions, according to the NDYC, are orchestrated by individuals who do not prioritize Nigeria’s best interests but rather aim to exploit public frustration for personal gain. The NDYC warns against allowing these disruptive elements to derail the collective efforts to build a transparent and accountable society.

The NDYC calls on youths in the Niger Delta and across Nigeria to remain vigilant and resist manipulation by those seeking to create discord. The organization encourages the youth to engage in constructive activities that promote unity, development, and the rule of law. The NDYC emphasizes the importance of supporting institutions like the EFCC to ensure a brighter future for all Nigerians.
